Terms of service
Last updated 6 July 2026
About these terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of Sunrise Learning and the online tutoring lessons booked through it. Sunrise Learning is a trading name of Sunrise Learning Academy Ltd, a company registered in Nigeria (company number 9643348), with its registered office at Sule Olalere Close, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. Sunrise Learning was founded by Olujoke Olabomi. In these Terms, "Sunrise Learning", "we", "us" and "our" mean Sunrise Learning Academy Ltd.
You can reach us by email at hello@sunriselearninghub.com or on WhatsApp at +234 803 812 5273.
Please read these Terms carefully. They are written in plain English and are meant to be fair to both you and us. This document is dated 6 July 2026.
1. Agreement and acceptance
By creating an account, booking a lesson, or otherwise using Sunrise Learning, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or book lessons.
These Terms form a legal agreement between you (the account holder) and us. They apply together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data (see the "Privacy" section below).
We may update these Terms from time to time. How that works, and how we will tell you, is set out in the "Changes to these terms" section below.
2. Who may use Sunrise Learning
Sunrise Learning provides online, one-to-one tutoring for children of the African diaspora, taught by Nigeria-based qualified tutors and delivered online. The learners are children (minors). The account holder is always the parent or guardian, never the child.
You may only create an account and book lessons if you are the parent or legal guardian of the child, and you are aged 18 or over. By opening an account, you confirm that this is the case, and that you have the authority to agree to these Terms and to arrange lessons for your child.
By adding a child to your account, you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, that you hold parental responsibility and full authority to book lessons for them, to agree these Terms on their behalf, and to provide their personal information to us and consent to its use as described in our Privacy Policy. Please do not add a child for whom you do not hold that authority.
The child never holds the account and never contracts with us. Your child only takes part in lessons that you, as the adult account holder, have arranged and are supervising. Sunrise Learning is designed for children learning under the care of a responsible adult, and is not marketed to or intended to be used directly by children.
One account may be used to add and book lessons for one or more children in your care. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
3. The service we provide
Sunrise Learning is an online platform for booking and taking one-to-one tutoring lessons for children. Lessons are taught by tutors we vet, all based in Nigeria, and are delivered online.
Discovery call: before you commit, we offer a free discovery call of around 20 minutes. The discovery call is free and carries no obligation to book paid lessons.
Accounts and booking: once you create an account, you can add your child, see available times shown in your own timezone, book lessons, and pay for them. Each booking is a single tutoring lesson at the time you select.
Lesson length: each paid lesson lasts approximately 60 minutes. The length of the lesson you are booking is shown before you pay. This is separate from the free discovery call, which lasts around 20 minutes.
Online delivery: lessons take place online, in a private, per-session video room. Each lesson uses its own private link. Lessons are not recorded.
We deliver our lessons with reasonable care and skill, but the details of the service (such as available times, tutors and lesson content) may change from time to time.
Availability of the service: we provide the platform on a reasonable-efforts basis. It may occasionally be unavailable, for example for maintenance or updates, or for reasons outside our reasonable control, including issues affecting the third-party services we rely on (such as the video room provider or our payment provider). We may also change, add or withdraw features from time to time. If a paid lesson cannot go ahead because of a problem on our side (including a failure of our platform or the video room), you are entitled to the same remedy as when a tutor cannot attend: a free reschedule or a full refund (see section 6).
4. Your account and your responsibilities
You are responsible for your login credentials. Keep your username and password confidential, do not share them, and let us know promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us, including your own details and your child's details (such as name, age and learning needs). Please keep this information up to date so we can provide lessons suitably.
You are responsible for supervising your child and for providing a safe, suitable space for each online lesson. This includes making sure your child has a quiet, appropriate place to learn, a working device and internet connection, and any appropriate adult supervision. You know your child and your home best, and that responsibility stays with you throughout each lesson.
Our tutors deliver the lesson only. They are not responsible for supervising or caring for your child, and they are not a substitute for a supervising adult. Responsibility for your child's care, welfare and safety before, during and after each lesson remains with you.
Because our learners are children, your active involvement matters. You agree to be available and contactable around lesson times, and to help your child join and take part in lessons safely.
5. Bookings, prices and payment
Lessons are pay-per-lesson. Each lesson costs 10,000 Nigerian Naira (NGN), paid in advance at the time of booking. The price you see is the total amount you pay per lesson and includes any taxes that apply to it.
Payments are handled by our payment provider, Paystack, and are processed under Paystack's own terms and privacy notice. We do not see or store your card details.
Prices are charged in Nigerian Naira (NGN). Any approximate figure shown in another currency, such as a "$" or "£" amount, is only a guide to help you understand the cost. It is not the amount charged. The amount you actually pay is the NGN price, and the equivalent in your own currency will depend on your card or bank's exchange rate.
Because the charge is made in Nigerian Naira through Paystack, your bank or card issuer may add a foreign-transaction or currency-conversion fee. Any such fees are set by your bank or card issuer, not by us, and are your responsibility. Some cards may also not support a Naira payment. If your card is declined for that or any other reason, the booking will not be confirmed and no charge is taken.
A booking is confirmed only once your payment has succeeded. Until payment succeeds, the time is not reserved for you.
6. Cancellations, reschedules, refunds and no-shows
The discovery call is free and carries no obligation, so there is nothing to cancel or pay for it.
Rescheduling or cancelling a paid lesson more than 12 hours before it starts: you may reschedule or cancel a paid lesson up to 12 hours before it is due to start. If you do, you can either reschedule to another available time at no extra charge, or receive a credit toward a future lesson. For an advance cancellation in this window, we offer a free reschedule or a lesson credit rather than a cash refund. Cash refunds to your original payment method apply where a tutor cannot attend, where a lesson cannot go ahead for reasons on our side, or where the law gives you a right to a refund.
How credits work: a lesson credit can be used for any lesson on your account, for any child on your account, and is valid for 3 months from the date it is issued. If you close your account while you still have unused credit, contact us and we will deal with it fairly.
Late cancellations and no-shows: if you cancel within 12 hours of the start time, or your child does not attend the lesson (a "no-show"), the lesson fee is not refundable. We understand that genuine emergencies happen, and we will try to help where we reasonably can, at our discretion. This does not affect any statutory right to cancel or to a refund that you may have as a consumer under the law of your own country (see "Governing law and jurisdiction" below).
If a tutor cannot attend, or the lesson cannot go ahead for reasons on our side: if a lesson does not go ahead because the tutor cancels or does not attend, or because of a problem on our side (including a failure of our platform or the video room), you can choose either a free reschedule to another available time, or a full refund of that lesson.
How refunds are made: where a refund is due, we make it to your original payment method through Paystack. The time it takes to appear depends on Paystack and your bank or card provider.
These cancellation and refund rules apply in addition to any mandatory cancellation or refund rights you have as a consumer under the law of your own country (see "Governing law and jurisdiction" below). Nothing in this section removes or reduces those rights.
7. What we provide, and no guarantee of outcomes
Our tutors are vetted, qualified educators. We provide tutoring with reasonable care and skill, and we genuinely want your child to progress.
However, learning depends on many things outside our control, including your child's engagement, effort and circumstances. We therefore do not guarantee any specific grades, exam results, test scores or other learning outcomes. Any examples of progress or results we may mention are illustrative and are not a promise of what your child will achieve.
8. Acceptable use, conduct and safeguarding
We want every lesson to be safe, respectful and productive for children and tutors alike. You and your child agree to behave respectfully during lessons and in any communication with us or our tutors.
Keeping lessons private: each lesson is one-to-one for the booked child. Only the child, and any adult you choose to supervise, should be present or able to see or hear the lesson. Please do not admit or invite anyone else, and do not share the lesson link, login details or joining information with anyone. This keeps every session safe for both your child and the tutor.
No recording: lessons are not recorded. You, your child and the tutor must not record a lesson, in whole or in part, by any means.
You agree not to misuse the platform, for example by attempting to disrupt lessons, interfere with the service, or use it for anything unlawful.
Safeguarding: we take child safety seriously. Our tutors are vetted before they work with children. If you ever have a concern about your child's safety, about a tutor, or about a lesson, please raise it with us straight away using the email or WhatsApp details in these Terms and we will look into it. Where we consider it necessary, we will act on a concern, including by restricting or removing a tutor's access and, where appropriate, reporting the matter to the relevant authorities.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Sunrise Learning at any time. You do not have to book any further lessons, and you can ask us to close your account.
We may decline, suspend or end lessons, or suspend or close an account, where behaviour makes a safe, productive lesson impossible, or where the service is being misused, or where it is otherwise necessary to protect a child, a tutor, other users or us. Where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect a child, a tutor or another user, we may suspend access immediately and without prior notice.
If we end lessons or close your account for reasons that are not down to misuse or unacceptable behaviour on your side, we will refund in full any lessons you have already paid for but not yet taken. That full refund is not subject to the 12-hour cancellation window in section 6.
10. Intellectual property
The Sunrise Learning platform, and the lesson materials, worksheets, content and other resources we provide, belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by law.
We give you permission to use the materials we provide only for your own child's personal learning in connection with our lessons. You may not copy, resell, publish or distribute our materials, or use them for any commercial purpose, without our permission.
You keep ownership of the information and content you provide to us. You allow us to use it as reasonably needed to provide the service and as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Privacy
We handle personal data, including your child's data, as set out in our Privacy Policy, available at /privacy. Please read it, as it explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have.
By using Sunrise Learning, you acknowledge our Privacy Policy. Where the law requires consent, we will ask for it separately.
12. Our responsibility to you
We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill, and we take our responsibilities to children and families seriously.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. This includes, for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and any other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.
If a paid lesson is not delivered, for example because a tutor does not attend or because of a problem on our side, your remedy is the free reschedule or full refund set out in section 6. The exclusions below do not take away that refund or reschedule for a lesson you paid for but did not receive.
Subject to the paragraphs above, we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, for indirect or consequential losses, or for problems caused by matters outside our reasonable control (such as your internet connection or device, or an interruption to a third-party service like Paystack or the video provider). We are also not responsible for how your child's learning progresses.
Subject to the paragraphs above, our total liability to you for any claim connected with a lesson or your use of Sunrise Learning is limited to the amount you paid us for the lesson or lessons affected.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our service or our policies, or to keep up with the law.
If we change our prices, the new price applies only to lessons you book after the change takes effect. Lessons you have already booked and paid for are charged at the price that was in force when you booked them. Because lessons are paid for one at a time in advance, a price change never affects a lesson you have already paid for.
If we make a significant change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by email or through the platform, before the change takes effect. The date at the top of these Terms shows when they were last updated.
If you continue to use Sunrise Learning after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the service and close your account.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or your use of Sunrise Learning, are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a dispute arises, it may be dealt with by the Nigerian courts.
If you are a consumer, this does not take away any mandatory rights or protections you have under the law of your own country of residence. Depending on where you live, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in, and to rely on the consumer-protection laws and courts of, your own country, where the law gives you that right.
15. How to contact us
